Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
In psychotherapy, together we explore whatever is not going well in your life, the issues that lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, or general dissatisfaction.  We look at your current situation as well as early family experiences to understand how your reactions have been shaped by fears and attachments to old patterns.  We work together to help you find new, more effective ways of coping and living your life.

Couples Therapy
In my work with couples we seek to identify and then address areas of conflict and dissatisfaction in the relationship.  Together we look at patterns of interaction and communication, and identify the moments of misunderstandings.  It is also often helpful and necessary to look at a relationship on a deeper level, and explore each partner’s conscious and unconscious motivations. All of us bring to our intimate relationships old patterns, hurts, and expectations from our earlier experiences in relationships; in turn, these earlier experiences can contribute to difficulties in our current relationship. We work to help both partners gain a deeper understanding of the other’s perspective and possible frustration and hurt.

Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis is an intensive talk therapy.  It is a process that allows us to deepen our experience of ourselves in a truly profound way.  It is among the most powerful and effective means by which self-knowledge can be gained on the deepest level.  Psychoanalysis requires a commitment of at least 2 sessions per week.
